John Wayne Airport is located on a 503-acre parcel in the south/central portion of Orange County that has convenient access to three major freeways and is adjacent to the cities of Costa Mesa, Newport Beach and Irvine.

John Wayne Airport serves Orange County and adjacent portions of Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego Counties, which are considered its trade area. Orange County is the third most populous county in the State of California and the sixth most populous in the nation.

The Airport is classified as a medium air traffic hub by the Federal Aviation Administration.
