John Wayne Airport

Santa Ana, John Wayne/Orange County, California (KSNA)

Gulfstream II, IIB and III NOISE ABATEMENT PROCEDURE

During any operations at Santa Ana, the following Noise Abatement procedures are required:

Daytime Hours (7:00 AM [8:00 AM Sunday] – 10:00 PM)

  1. Limit aircraft weight to:

    Non-Hushkitted Gulfstream II…………………… 52,000 lbs
    Hushkitted Gulfstream II………………………… 54,000 lbs
    Gulfstream IIB/Gulfstream III…………………..… 60,000 lbs

  2. Utilize Min/Rated EPR and 20° flaps for all takeoffs. Align aircraft on the runway as close to departure end as feasible. Hold brakes and advance power levers to 80% HP RPM. Release brakes and rapidly advance power levers to rated EPR. At VR, promptly rotate aircraft to a 13° nose up pitch attitude. Upon obtaining a positive rate of climb, retract landing gear, reduce flaps to 10° and accelerate to and maintain VFS, (minimum 13°pitch attitude).

  3. At 500 feet AGL, reduce power to the climb EPR as published in the Quiet Flying takeoff planning charts. Ensure that the power is reduced prior to crossing Bristol Street (four lane highway at
    southern boundary of airport).

  4. Execute SID and/or departure instructions as closely as possible and continue climb to 3000 feet maintaining VFS and climb EPR. At 3000 feet AGL, raise flaps to fully retracted position and further reduced power as desired airspeed is achieved. Do not increase power above Quiet Flying climb thrust until well clear of the coastline at Newport Beach.

Nighttime (10:00 PM – 7:00 AM [8:00 AM on Sundays])

No operations permitted.

Note Prior to first time operation, submit letter which states that you are aware of, and will comply with, the specific noise abatement procedures above.
