The Airport Arts Program presents museum quality exhibitions in the Terminal,
provides periodic special programs in conjunction with the exhibitions
and sponsors a county-wide Annual Student Art Contest/Exhibition.
The Airport Arts Program, overseen by the five-member Airport
Arts Commission, presents museum quality exhibitions in the Terminal,
provides periodic special programs in conjunction with the exhibitions
and sponsors a county-wide Annual Student Art Contest/Exhibition.
Art is displayed throughout the Terminal in the following art exhibit spaces:
FLIGHT OF IDEAS
This permanent art piece is suspended from the ceiling above the Terminal C baggage claim area.
THE VI SMITH CONCOURSE GALLERY
This gallery is located
on the Departure Level opposite Gates 1 through 4 in
the North Concourse and 18 through 21 in the South Concourse.
O.C.: DESTINATION AND CULTURE
This exhibit space is located in a walkway connecting Terminal B to Terminal C. Eleven wall-mounted cases line the curving corridor, which is glassed in on one side. The space is set aside specifically to promote Orange County as a destination for the arts and culture.
COMMUNITY FOCUS SPACE PROGRAM
The Community Focus Space Program features exhibitions by Orange County artists, local community organizations and artists with Orange County ties. This year-round community art space changes approximately every six weeks. Art cases are located in the following areas: Terminal A, Departure (upper) Level, near
the security screening entrance
and on the Arrival (lower) Level
near Baggage Carousel 1. Terminal B, Departure (upper) Level, near
the security screening entrance
and on the Arrival (lower) Level
near Baggage Carousel 4.
ANNUAL STUDENT ART CONTEST AND EXHIBITION
John Wayne Airport organizes an annual art contest by engaging schools in the community and local artists to submit artwork that will be considered for public display in areas of Terminals A and B, where passengers line up to pass through the security checkpoints or as they pick up their bags off the carousels after their plane lands.
