The John Wayne Airport Art Program has been presenting high quality art exhibitions to travelers since 1990. Overseen by a five member Airport Arts Commission, and administered by Curator Heather Bowling, this robust art program features contemporary art by local artists, and highlights Orange County cultural treasures.
Visitors can view a variety of exhibitions at the five galleries spread throughout the Airport. The three Vi Smith Galleries, one in each Terminal on the secure side of the airport, feature thoughtfully curated exhibits that showcase local, emerging artists working in all mediums. The Community Focus Space hosts solo shows for Orange County artists, featuring their works throughout Terminals A and B baggage claims. And the Destination Gallery, found between Terminals B and C on the non-secure side, hosts impactful exhibits with partnering Orange County arts and culture institutions.
Don’t have a plane ticket but want to view the exhibits? Not a problem. Simply visit any of the Information Booths in Baggage Claim and request an OCAirPass. The process takes mere minutes and provides you with a pass that allows you to pass through security and enjoy the art galleries, food and beverages, shopping, and plane spotting.
