Passenger Services

 

While security and public safety is our top priority, we strive to offer you a positive travel experience on your journey through John Wayne Airport.  Our facility is kept up to high standards and we continuously work on modernizing our services.



Airport Information and Assistance

Airport Information Booths are located in the Baggage Claim areas (lower level) across from Carousels 2, 3 and 6. John Wayne Airport employees are available to answer Airport- or tourism-related questions.

Airport Operators may be reached for assistance by dialing "0" from any White Courtesy Phone or by calling (949) 252-5200.

Ambassadors or "red coats" volunteer their time to assist our travelers. John Wayne Airport Ambassadors are stationed on the Departure (upper) Level during the busiest travel times and provide Airport users with friendly, knowledgeable service. Ambassadors are trained in customer service and are available to answer questions and give directions to travelers. (Volunteer Program Information)

Interactive Visitors Centers - These kiosks are located in Baggage Claim (lower level) adjacent to Baggage Carousels 2 and 3. The kiosks contain general Airport information and can assist you in contacting local hotels and shuttle companies to arrange a pick-up.



ATMs

Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) are located near Gates 7 and 8 in Terminal A, and near Gates 9 and 10 in Terminal B.   ATMs are also located in Baggage Claim on the Arrival (lower) Level near Carousels 1 and 4. (Terminal Map)



Baggage Claim

Baggage Claim is located on the Arrival (lower) Level of Terminals A, B and C.  From the gates, Baggage Claim areas are easily accessible by escalator, elevator or stairs. The escalators and stairs are adjacent to the security checkpoints, while the elevators are located near the Terminal exit doors.

  • Airlines in Terminal A utilize Baggage Carousels 1 and 2. The oversized baggage pickup is located behind Carousel 2. Airline Baggage Claim offices are located near Carousel 1.
     
  • Airlines in Terminal B utilize Baggage Carousels 3 and 4. The oversized baggage pickup is located behind Carousel 3. Airline Baggage Claim offices are located near Carousel 4.
     
  • Airlines in Terminal C utilize Baggage Carousels 5, 6 and 7. The oversized baggage pickup is located behind Carousel 6. Airline Baggage Claim offices are located near Carousel 5.
     
  • Questions concerning baggage should be directed to airline personnel.
     
  • Skycaps are available for assistance with baggage.
     
  • Baggage Claim is the best location for passenger pick-up.



Baggage Carts

"SmarteCartes" are conveniently placed throughout the Terminal, and are available to rent. There is a 25-cent award for returning a SmarteCarte after use. SmarteCartes are allowed through the security checkpoints. Acceptable payment for the SmartCartes is cash or credit card.



Check-in Services

Airline Ticket Counters are available for check-in services on the Departure (upper) Level.

Ticket Counters:

  • Terminal A: Alaska, American, Continental, Delta, Delta Connection and WestJet
  • Terminal B: United, United Express, US Airways and US Airways Express
  • Terminal C: Frontier and Southwest

Curbside check-in is provided by skycaps at the Terminal main entrances.

Available curbside check-in:

  • Terminal A: American Airlines and Delta Airlines/Delta Connection
  • Terminal C: Southwest

Self check-in kiosks in the ticket counter lobbies are available for all airlines.

Web check-in is another option provided by most airlines. Visit your airline's Web site and print your boarding pass in the comfort of your home or office. With this boarding pass you may proceed directly to the gate if you have no checked luggage.



Concessions

A variety of food and specialty item concessions are located throughout Terminals A and B. While the majority of the concessions are located in the secure area of the Terminals (only accessible to visitors with a boarding pass), snack shops and news stores are available for all visitors on the Departure (upper) Level near the ticket counter areas. Electrical Power Outlets

Electrical power outlets are available in most gate areas between the backs of the passenger seating rows.
Work stations are also available throughout the Terminal C gate areas. These services are offered at no cost to travelers.



Ground Transportation Services

John Wayne Airport offers a variety of Ground Transportation services.

Interactive Visitors Centers - These kiosks are located in Baggage Claim (lower level) adjacent to Baggage Carousels 2 and 3 and will assist you in contacting local hotels and shuttle companies to arrange a pick-up.

Rental Cars - Counters are located on the Arrival (lower) Level between the two Baggage Claim areas of Terminals A and B. The rental car pick-up and drop-off area for on-site rental car companies is on the lower level of the Ground Transportation Center. 

Hotel Shuttles - Some local hotels provide courtesy shuttles to and from John Wayne Airport. (List of Hotels with Shuttle Service)

Taxis and Door-to-Door Shuttles - Reservations for taxi or shuttle transportation are not needed. These services are offered in the Ground Transportation Center, which can be easily reached by crossing the signal light near the John Wayne Statue, located between Terminals A and B. Taxi or shuttle coordinators are available for assistance with transportation needs. Should you require a wheelchair accessible van, it is highly recommended to make reservations in advance. Hours of Operation

Airport passengers are encouraged to arrive at the Airport 90 minutes to 2 hours prior to their scheduled departure to allow ample time for parking and to complete check-in and the security screening process.

The Airport is open early to accommodate passenger check-in for early morning flights:

Parking lots** 4:30 a.m.
Valet Parking Service 5:00 a.m.

 
* Some airlines open their ticket counters as early as 4:30 a.m. Please verify with your airline or call (949) 252-5200.

** All parking lots remain open after hours to serve arriving passengers.



Lockers

Lockers are not available at John Wayne Airport.



Lost and Found

If an an item has been lost at the Airport, John Wayne Airport police services may be able to help.  Call (949) 252-5000 to check on the lost item.

Inquiries concerning items lost on an airplane should be directed to the airline. (Airlines)



Mailboxes

Mailboxes are not available at John Wayne Airport.



Passenger Paging

John Wayne Airport offers central passenger paging to locate a person within Terminals A, B and C. To request a page you may use any White Courtesy Phone in Terminals A, B and C, and dial "0" for the Airport Operator, or you may call (949) 252-5200.



Pets and Service Animals

JWA travelers who are accompanied by service animals or family pets can now enjoy the convenience of a Pet Relief Area while at the Airport.

The Pet Relief Area can be found on the Arrival (lower) Level outside of Terminal A near the entrance to Parking Structure A1 (View map...). Owners are asked to clean up after their animals, using the waste disposal bags and receptacle provided.

Please be advised that - with the exception of service animals - uncaged animals are not allowed in the Terminal.



Phones and Phone Cards

Pay Phones with data ports are available throughout the Terminal in the Concourse, Ticket Counter and Baggage Claim areas.

Phone Cards may be purchased at the Hudson News Store and Paradies News & Gift Store.

White Courtesy Telephones are located throughout the Riley Terminal. These phones can be used to respond to an overhead page, to request a page for a missing party or for any questions or concerns you may have. To make outgoing phone calls, please use pay phones.



Security

Airport Police Services provide general Airport security. 

Baggage screening and security screening checkpoints are under the jurisdiction of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).  Visit our Travel Tips section for more information on items allowed through security.

WiFi

JWA is pleased to provide free wireless internet access to passengers throughout the concourses, lounges and concession areas of JWA’s Thomas F. Riley Terminal. Passengers wishing to access the free service should look for JWAFREEWIFI in their computer’s “available wireless networks” list.
