JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT FEATURES AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS ORANGE COUNTY ANNUAL DESIGN AWARDS PROGRAM

SANTA ANA, Calif. - More than 80 entries from the 2012 and 2013 American Institute of Architects (AIA) Orange County Design Awards Program are on exhibit at John Wayne Airport through November 28, 2014. The collection is being presented in the Vi Smith Concourse Gallery in Terminal A across from Gates 2 through 5, in Terminal C across from Gates 18 through 21 and in the freestanding display cases across from Gate 14.

The AIA Orange County Design Awards celebrate innovative solutions to the architectural challenges facing Orange County. From the largest urban planning solution to the smallest home on a constrained lot, each award winning project stands on its own merit as an example of exceptional work by exceptional architects. This exhibition showcases an array of project types including custom and multi-family residential, interior, education, healthcare and retail.

The AIA Orange County Student Design Competition is a time honored tradition intended to assist local students in their advancement to a professional career in architecture. Saddleback College and Orange Coast College are included in this competition; the exhibition includes four student entries.

"John Wayne Airport's Thomas F. Riley Terminal is one of Orange County's most iconic architectural structures, making it the ideal venue for celebrating award winning AIAOC architecture," said Mr. Jeffrey Gill FAIA, Executive Director of AIA Orange County. He continued, "The AIAOC chapter is proud to work with JWA to present this exhibition to the traveling public."
