TSA Pre✔™ EXPEDITED SCREENING PROGRAM EXPANDS TO TERMINAL B AT JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT

SANTA ANA, Calif. - The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) today announced a limited expansion of TSA Pre✔™ operations at John Wayne Airport (JWA) beginning Wednesday morning, July 17, 2013.

Eligible passengers traveling on participating airlines (Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and US Airways) may receive expedited screening benefits at the checkpoint in Terminal B.  Hours of operations for TSA Pre✔™ in Terminal B are Monday through Friday, 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m., and 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  TSA also operates a dedicated lane for TSA Pre✔™ operations in Terminal A from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily.

TSA Pre✔™ is part of the agency’s larger effort to implement risk-based security concepts that enhance security by focusing efforts on travelers about whom the agency knows less. TSA Pre✔™ has been a very popular program at John Wayne Airport with nearly 80,000 travelers utilizing the lane in Terminal A since it was implemented in December 2012.

Passengers who are eligible for TSA Pre✔™ include U.S. citizens who are members of frequent traveler programs and are invited by participating airlines. Additionally, U.S. citizens who are members of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler program and Canadian citizens who are members of CBP’s NEXUS program qualify to participate in TSA Pre✔™. Members of CBP’s “Global Entry” Trusted Traveler Program are automatically eligible for TSA Pre✔™.

Introduced at JWA in May 2013, Global Entry allows international passengers expedited entry into the United States.  Individuals interested in joining a CBP Trusted Traveler program can learn more by visiting www.globalentry.gov.
