SURF CULTURE PHOTOGRAPHY BY DIANE EDMONDS
FEATURED IN COMMUNITY FOCUS SPACE PROGRAM
AT JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT
SANTA ANA, Calif. - A selection of prints by Orange County artist Diane Edmonds are now on display through December 3, 2012, in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal as part of John Wayne Airport's (JWA) Community Focus Space Program. Edmonds' work can be seen on the Departure (upper) Level near the security screening areas in Terminals A, B and C and on the Arrival (lower) Level near Baggage Carousels 1 and 4.
Edmonds grew up a block away from the beach in Huntington Beach and spent many days in the water. Her interest in photography began in college and grew as she started her world travels. After exploring every beach on Australia's East Coast, she moved back to California and focused her camera on the water. She says, "For me, surf photography is all about being at the beach, getting my toes in the sand, and enjoying the ocean." The majority of her works were taken at Orange County, Calif. beaches.
The JWA exhibition features a variety of Edmonds' photographs, an example of which can be seen below.

'Wedge' by Diane Edmonds
"The beaches of Orange County are my studio," says Edmonds. "This exhibit celebrates the surf culture of Orange County including surfing, skimboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, body boarding, kayaking, The Wedge, 'beachcruiser' car shows, snow views, sunsets, and even a surfing dog."
