HOLIDAY TRAVEL TIPS FOR JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT PASSENGERS
Santa Ana, California - John Wayne Airport (JWA) anticipates a busier-than-normal travel period between December 18, 2009 and January 4, 2010. During the month of December, passenger volumes at JWA tend to be higher than normal with the busiest days being the Friday before (December 18) through the Sunday following (December 27) Christmas. However, passengers should be aware of an expanded travel window through Sunday, January 4, 2010. To ensure a smooth visit to the Airport, passengers are encouraged to plan ahead and arrive at the Airport two hours prior to their flight departure time.
JWA offers the following holiday travel tips:
Plan Smart: Construction is underway on the Airport Improvement Program. Use caution when traveling the Airport roadways and obey all posted speed limits, now reduced to 15 mph in construction areas. Passengers should plan to arrive two (2) hours prior to their flight departure time to find parking, go through security screening and get to their gate on time. In addition, it's always a good idea to check with your airline prior to leaving for the Airport to confirm flight status.
Pack Smart: Know what items are accepted or prohibited through security and on the aircraft, including food and beverage items. Check www.tsa.gov for more information. As a reminder, gifts should not be wrapped as they are subject to search, even if placed in checked baggage. Many airlines have also implemented new requirements for checked bags. Snow globes are not allowed through the security check point, but are permitted in checked baggage. Check with your airline if you are unsure of their requirements.
Park Smart: JWA offers a variety of parking options: (1) three terminal parking structures available (A1, A2 and B2) at the rate of $2 per hour or $20 per day; (2) Parking Lot C at the rate of $2 per hour or $17 per day; (3) an off-site "Main Street" parking lot for $14 per day; (4) and convenient, valet parking for $30 per day located in front of the Riley Terminal. If you're planning to park at the Airport, check the Airport's Web site for parking options and construction updates by visiting www.ocair.com or calling 949.252.5200.
John Wayne Airport (SNA) is a self-supporting enterprise, owned and operated by the County of Orange, serves nearly nine million passengers annually and is governed by the five-member Orange County Board of Supervisors.
