Santa Ana, California - John Wayne Airport (JWA) will be hosting a Red Cross Blood Drive on June 9, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be parked at the red curb outside of the Terminal Administrative Offices. Donors may sign up in advance at Walk-ins are also welcome on the day of the drive.

"Donating blood is a great opportunity to make a difference in the lives of those who are suffering. We hope that all passengers and airport employees will consider participating," said Airport Director Alan Murphy.

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood. Donated blood is used for emergencies, people with cancer, blood disorders, sickle cell, anemia and other illnesses as well as for people who need regular blood transfusions to live. Despite the overwhelming need, only five percent of the eligible U.S. population donates blood in any given year and most people have blood to spare. There is currently no substitute for the blood of healthy donors. One donation can help save up to three lives.

Those who participate in the blood drive may enter a regional drawing for a Free Gas Card valued at $500 and will receive a coupon from Wahoo's Fish Tacos.
