ORANGE COUNTY STUDENTS INVITED TO ENTER AVIATION ART CONTEST - John Wayne Airport announces its 19th Annual Student Art Contest

SANTA ANA, Calif. - John Wayne Airport’s annual Student Art Contest is underway. Students interested in entering are being asked to "Create a Poster for the World Air Games", the theme of this year’s contest. Orange County students in grades K - 12 should submit their entries no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.

Interested students can pick up materials at any Orange County Public Library, one of the participating city libraries in Anaheim, Buena Park, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Mission Viejo, Newport Beach, Placentia, Santa Ana or Yorba Linda or any Orange County Public School. Winners from three age categories will be selected and exhibited from December 9, 2008 through January 9, 2009 on the arrival level, near baggage claim, of the Thomas F. Riley Terminal.

Each entrant receives a certificate of participation from the Airport and select winners will be awarded prizes donated by sponsors including Angels Baseball, Art Supply Warehouse, Bowers Museum, Continental and Southwest Airlines, The Irvine Museum, Laguna College of Art and Design, McDonalds at JWA, the Pacific Symphony and Ripley’s Believe it or Not. In 2007, more than 2,000 students entered the contest.
