Steel Deliveries & Construction Traffic on Airport Roadways
Beginning March 29, 2010
WHAT:
Large trucks delivering oversize steel and other structural elements for the construction of new Terminal C will be utilizing the John Wayne Airport roadway system. DRIVERS SHOULD EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION AND ADHERE TO ALL POSTED SPEED LIMITS AND TRAFFIC ADVISORIES when driving on or around the John Wayne Airport roadways.
In addition, to facilitate steel delivery and erecting of Terminal C, a 330-ton crawler crane will be onsite now through summer 2010.
Reduced speed limits are in place on the upper and lower roadways of the Airport. FINES ARE DOUBLED IN CONSTRUCTION ZONES.
WHEN:.
Beginning Monday, March 29, 2010, trucks with oversized loads will be utilizing the Airport Terminal roadways to access construction sites. Planned hours of operation of these trucks are listed below:
- Upper Level Roadway: 11 PM to 5 AM & 12 Noon to 4 PM
- Lower Level Roadway: 11 PM to 9 AM

WHY:
Improvements are underway at John Wayne Airport and include construction of Terminal C, Parking Structure C, Central Utility Plant and many other improvements throughout the Airport facility. Construction activity is expected to be complete in late 2011.
